Our Heritage Projects Title:
Conservation and Celebration:
A Century of Serving Our Community as a Parish Hall
Our building has served the community for 100 years as a Parish Hall. We aim to learn more about how it has served the community over the century and celebrate it's anniversary.
Our Project includes:
  • Conservation work on our Grade II Listed building
  • Research into how the Hall has served the community over the last century
  • Engaging people in our project and sharing learning
  • Use of digital facilities to record and share our project and the learning

Commenting on the award Steve Baber (Project Leader) said: “I was delighted to learn that National Lottery has agreed to support our exciting heritage project which is aimed at conserving our much-loved historic converted tithe barn and celebrating 100 years of its life as a Parish Hall serving the community. In addition to conserving the building the project provides an opportunity for our community and pupils at our local schools, East Worlington Primary School and Chulmleigh Community College to learn about the heritage associate with Hall, share that learning widely and celebrate through exhibitions and events the richness of our community’s history. This is truly an important project for us which engages and enriches the sense of community.”
Nerys Watts, Head of HLF South West, said: “Building on successful conservation work at the village hall, which was also made possible by National Lottery players, we’re pleased to support these plans which will enable people of all ages to celebrate a century of their community heritage.”
Conservation:
For more information about the conservation work visit our Conservation and Refurishment page on this website.
Research:
We are researching 100 years of history of East Worlington Parish Hall. One activity supporting the research is to post a monthly question on this website and on our Parish Hall Blog asking the community to engage by sending information in reponse to the question.
Learning:
We plan to add information to our Heritage wesbite as one way to share learning when we have completed our research. We are currently using our Parish Hall Blog to share 'Interesting Facts'
Digital outputs:
We are building our Heritage website by adding more pages and more inormation. One addition is the Timeline feature which enables us to share information relevant to their time in the history of the Hall.

We are also using social media and web-based communication to share information about the project and learning.
